KL Kids Yoga Festival

2016 KL Kids Yoga Festival (6月4号和5号)是一个两天的活动,也是马来西亚第一场关于儿童瑜伽的大型的活动。第一天的活动会是以研讨会的方式进行。由外国和本地不同的在儿童瑜伽,家庭/儿童静心,儿童身心灵和儿童正念领域的老师呈现比如来自台湾荷兰籍Rutger Tamminga 唐睿謙老师,本地施冰清老师等等。早上将有两个演讲(1小时15分钟),下午参加者可以从4个工作坊中任选参与其一 (3小时)。参加对象为老师,家长,教育工作者,瑜伽老师,特教老师,或任何对于儿童瑜伽有兴趣的朋友。参加者无须有瑜伽经验。如果有经济困难/单亲/家里有特殊孩子或在非盈利组织工作的老师和义工,我们也会寻求赞助让他们可以全免上课。

第2天的活动将是开放给亲子,孩子(4到11/12岁)和青少年参与。参加者无须有瑜伽经验。第2天的活动基本分为2个部分。早上我们会2场户外慈善瑜伽活动,分别为亲子瑜伽和家庭大笑瑜伽,所有的收入将捐出给公益/慈善团体。 这两个活动将在五月初才开放。因为当天付款和人数有限。希望确认出席者才报名。当天下午有8个儿童瑜伽/静心/正念/Mandala相关的工作坊分别在2个时段进行。其中2个亲子,5个孩子和一个给青少年参与的。每个时段为1小时45分钟,现在已经开放报名了。请大家踊跃参与。

这次我们的活动主题是“Love in action”, 对于我们来说爱是一个动词,如果不行动,爱只是一个字。我们也寻求商家或有能力的朋友赞助我们这次的活动。

所以这个六月的假期我们欢迎大家和我们一起来参与和见证马来西亚第一个大型的儿童瑜伽活动,为我们的孩子及社会由自己开始做出一些改变,行动吧。

day 1Overview

2016 KL Kids Yoga Festival is a two day event and should be considered the very first big kids yoga event to be held in Malaysia.The first day conference will feature both overseas and local speakers and a variety of talks/ workshops which covers topics in Kids Yoga,Children Well-beings. Mindfulness, Yoga Education in School, Children and family quiet time. The second day of the festival will be the part where the fun and laughter comes in. We will have a charity parent & kids yoga session in the morning and various interactive yoga classes & workshops designed for kids or parents and kids in the afternoon.

Childhood is a period of great transformation, with constant changes and the arising of new feelings and thoughts. If a snake changes skin once a year, a human child changes skin almost every day, leaving behind the old reality and stepping into a new one. That this may lead to emotional imbalance and, at times, a sense of insecurity is inevitable. Scientific research shows that one third of children below 12, at some time during childhood, need professional support to deal with their mental issues. The practice of yoga and meditation can help the child move through these different stages of life in a more comfortable and peaceful manner. In this presentation we show you how to gain this peacefulness and how this peacefulness can become a lifelong love for compassion and service.

Bio :Between 1999 and the present, Mr. Tamminga has been a popular lecturer for a wide variety of organizations and government bodies on topics such as storytelling, children’s yoga, special yoga and neo-humanist education. In the past six years he has travelled regularly to China, Malaysia and Singapore for teacher training and parent-children workshops. Every year he conducts several Kid Yoga teacher training programs and to date close to one thousand teachers have participated in this training. He also conducts hundreds of hours of workshops for teachers throughout Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Singapore. Mr. Tamminga is currently promoting the Peace Mama Project – a training to teach mothers how to tell stories and practice Quiet Time Exercises in schools.

Topic : Mindfulness for kids: A Brain Focused Strategy for Children Well Being

A Brain Focused Strategy for Children’s Well Being and Mindfulness originating from various ancient wisdoms and spiritual teachings. This technique has been largely secularized in the West. It teaches children better self-control, enhances emotional regulation skills and promotes resilience and happiness. This talk includes a discussion of the neurobiology of children and how mindfulness practices may influence their brain development. This session also shares about activities and practical strategies to teach mindfulness to school-age children that are informed by state-of-art neuroscience and clinical psychology.

正念源自不同古来智慧传承及宗教灵性教导,但大量被西方学者们把正念的教导非宗教及世俗化。正念教导孩子更好的自我控制,提高情绪调节技巧,提升愉快和快乐指数。这个讲座将从科学的角度和大家分享正念如何改变孩子的脑部发展也和大家分享目前最先進的临床心理学和神經科學角度如何引领孩子正念的活动和策略让孩子们身心健康。

Bio : Kai Shuen is a clinical psychologist who works with a variety of clients, ranging from young children to adults. Currently, he is lecturing in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Kampar campus). He is trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behaviour therapy, and has a keen interest in mindfulness-based interventions. He received his mindfulness training from both religious and secular sources. He has been adapting and applying mindfulness tools in his clinical work for children with special needs. He is a co-trainer of MINDFUL-Gym, and teaches mindfulness for primary school children.

Topic : Teaching love in schools

In the classical humanist tradition, schools were meant to develop not just scholarship, but also paidea, which means wisdom, grace, character and greatness. In our modern humanist education today there is a focus on academics, and, as research shows, this leaves the majority of graduates clueless on what to do in life. This at a time when our society needs leaders and people who have a vision based on compassion. Here we propose a new humanism for schools, an education that grows loving awareness, ethics and critical thinking. In this workshop we will explore understanding, communication and collaboration as key elements for conflict resolution in a practical and creative manner.

在传统人本主义,学校不止获取知识更是取得智慧,性格,優雅,性格,崇高道德培养的地方。但是现在的教育体制里却只注重课业成绩。研究也显示大多数的毕业生缺乏明确的人生目标。所以是时候我们的社会需要以爱/慈悲为蓝图的的教育体制及领袖。在这个工作坊我们将和大家介绍新人道主义的学校和教育体制,一个培养爱的觉醒,道德和判断性思维。这个工作坊也探索以较实际和创意的方式,以体谅,沟通及合作的方式处理冲突。

Topic : Family & Children Quiet Time Practice*

There are three objectives in this workshop, firstly learn to clarify self concept. enhance self-cognition which lead to self-acceptance & self-affirmation. Secondly to explore one’s innermost feelings when in conflict with others and how to express the feeling and resolve the conflict. Thirdly how parents & kids practicing quiet time in daily life. The contents of the workshop includes exploring “Who am I”, how to communicate and express your mind and feeling, understanding emotional management and learning various tools, methods and technique for quiet time practice.

家庭/儿童静心工作坊 一. 课程目标: 1. 澄清自我概念、增进自我认识到自我接纳和自我肯定。 2. 探讨与人冲突时内心的感受,如何表达感受到学习如何面对与解决方案。 3. 亲子如何在生活中达到静心 二. 课程内容: 1. 我是谁?心事如何说? 2. 认识与掌控情绪 3. 静心的工具、运用技巧与方法

Bio – Shee graduated from Taiwan National Chung Hsing University in 1974. She was a teacher and head of counselling in Foon Yew High School (1981-2009). Shee found Om training center in 2010 and currently act as a spiritual teacher. Her expertise is to counselling through spiritual drawing and inner self-conversation. Shee often been invited to give talks and workshop by schools and local body. Shee also writes in newspapers and magazines. She published her first ebook “Conversation with your heart” in 2014. Shee learns and practices meditation under Venerable Chi Chern and also she currently learns Seth Theory from SETH.

施冰清 学历:台湾国立中兴大学地政系毕业(1974年) 曾任:马来西亚新山宽柔中学教师及学生生活辅导处主任(1981-2009) 现任:OM TRAINING CENTER 心灵老师 施老师常受邀到各学校或其他华社单位或佛教组织主讲辅导课题 她曾在星洲日报大柔佛版【打开心门】专栏执笔。主编宽中辅讯【心灵空间】。2014年出版电子书【与心灵对话】。 她向释继程法师学习静坐禅修至今也向心灵导师SETH学习赛斯心法。 2010年成立OM TRAINING CENTER身心灵发展中心 。擅长透过心灵绘画与心灵对话处理辅导各种烦恼或各类精神问题的人。

Topic: Mindful Parenting: ‘Being’ a Parent

Mindful parenting is not another parenting technique on how you should teach your children, but a form of practice that teaching you to be in-tuned in the present moment with non-judgmental attitude. This workshop exposes parents to be aware of the inner self, making peace and learning to grow together with the children.

正念养育观不是一另一个教导你如何教养孩子的技巧,而是一个让身为父母的我们学习以不批判的心态回归当下。这个工作坊让父母有机会发掘内在的自己,制造和谐和学习如何和孩子一齐成长。

Bio : May Liu is a clinical psychologist, currently practicing as a visiting clinical psychologist in Melaka, Seremban and Kuala Lumpur. She has been in the field for the past 6 years, and has worked with various issues like depression, anxiety, child developmental concerns and other disorders. She is passionate in promoting mindful parenting since 2012. She believes parents are the basic foundation to build a healthy family. In 2015, she has piloted a mindful parenting program for local parents and is in the process of fine-tuning it.

Topic :Teaching Kid’s Yoga : How to Get Started

Yoga is the practice for the body, mind and heart. Teaching yoga to kids is like teaching kids how to live their life more healthier, peaceful and happier. That is gift that will never be taken away but will grow within the kids’ heart lifetime. In this workshop. you will be guided step by step on how to start practice yoga with your kids from understanding the core value of yoga, posture, breathing to relaxation and quiet time techniques. Furthermore, you will be equipped various fun, creative and practical tools that will be useful to enrich the practice.

瑜伽是身心靈的练习。教导孩子瑜伽就像指引孩子活出一个健康,平静和快乐的人生。就似一份礼物会永远存放在孩子心中继续滋长。在这个工作坊,我们会指导如何开始和孩子一齐开始练习瑜伽,从了解瑜伽的价值观,瑜伽动作,呼吸法到放松术及静心。除此,我们也会提供如何透过一些有趣,创意及实际的瑜伽小工具让我们的瑜伽练习更加丰富

Bio : Shi is a kids yoga teacher, artisan, storyteller and meditator. She attained Complementary Health Education Diploma in Yoga Teaching(UK)(2008), basic and intermediate Certification in Kids Yoga Teacher training (2012/15), Yoga for the Special Child® LLC Basic 1&2 Program (2012). Shi holds MBA from Nottingham University,UK, yet, with her passion in yoga, she left corporate job in 2011 and established happyfishyoga. Shi has been actively involved in teaching and advocating kids yoga in Malaysia since 2012, Apart kids yoga, Shi also engaged in yoga for children with special needs, kid mindfulness/quiet time exercise, yoga in school and family yoga.

Parent and kid yoga basically refers when parent and kid partnering up for a simple yoga session is a playful way. It deliver the same mental and physical benefits as any other yoga class: peace of mind, relaxation, and increased bodily strength and flexibility. Both parent & kids learn to support, cooperate and learn from each other throughout the class for building a more intimate parent-child relationship.

亲子瑜伽是指适合儿童与家长共同参与的体位法和瑜伽游。我们希望通过在整个瑜伽练习的过程,让儿童与家长彼此同共学习和互相扶持,让大家有更多机会互相了解,认识及合作,从而达到促进亲子感情,令双方关系更融洽和谐。同时让父母亲身去体验和挖掘自己和孩子的潜在能力,从一起修习瑜伽中培养亲情与默契,培养孩子的良好品质、习惯与性格,以及身心的全面良好发展!

Bio : The “Everywhere is love” Facebook page was founded and voluntarily run by numerous teachers who completed the 2012 Children Yoga Teacher Training Course conducted by Rutger Tamminga. The objective is to build a platform to connect both teachers and parents together. We also aim to introduce and propound kids yoga. Indeed, this page doesn’t belong to any organization or any religion, but this page belongs to everyone who loves children unconditionally.

Laughter Yoga is a fantastic way to keep healthy with having fun. It was started in a park in Mumbai in 1995 with just 5 participants, and now there are over 10,000 laughter clubs in 100 different countries. Laughter Yoga is based on the principal that your body cannot difference between fake and genuine laughter. As long as you are willing to laugh you will get the same psychological and physiological benefits of laughter. It is a combination of deep yogic breathing and playful laughter exercises. It is usually practiced in groups where you can make eye contact and connect with your sense of child like fun.Laughter. Laughter Yoga is now widely accepted by the medical and scientific world and large organization are using Laughter Yoga to enhance the well being of their staff.

大笑瑜伽於1995 年由印度醫生Dr. MadanKataria 所研發,是一種嶄新和獨特的帶氧運動,結合了瑜珈式呼吸(Pranayama)、想像力配合大笑運動令身體及腦部有更多氧氣。

Sharondz Laughter Journey ~I got to know about Laughter Yoga a few years ago at a yoga studio where I attended a 2 days laughter workshop. I felt awesome during the sessions and started looking where can I learn more about laughter yoga. I sign up for the Laughter Yoga Teacher training in Bangalore, India early last year. After coming back from the training I started giving Laughter Yoga session in Malaysia and I facilitated sessions in small businesses and corporations to share the joy of Laughter Yoga with others as its makes me feel so blessed, happy and joyful. It feels wonderful to have the ability to contribute to the people around me. Laughter Yoga has helped me to be more Positive in life, Laugh unconditioned, Stay Healthy and Improve relationship with my friends and family.

Topic : Helping children find balance through creative movement and yoga ( For Parent & Kid)

The main purpose of creative movement and children’s yoga is to develop a healthy balance between body and mind. A child with good sensory motor coordination will be more independent, have a positive self-image and transitions more naturally into the next phases of life. This workshop is mostly practical and you will have the chance to learn new songs, games and activities to share with your children at home or in the classroom. Activities will include quiet time, stories, dance and lots of fun!

创意律动和儿童瑜伽最主要的目的是建立身心健康平衡,一个感觉動作協調的孩子多数比较独立,拥有正面的自我意像及更自然地迈向人生的下一个阶段。这个工作坊将让大家有机会学习可以在家或课堂互动的新的歌曲,游戏和活动 。这也涵盖静心,故事,舞蹈和很多乐趣。

Topic : Befriend Your Emotion – Exploring Yoga Inside Out

Inside Out is one of most inspired movie by Disney/Pixer. All emotions exist for purpose and has value. It is essential to teach kids to be able aware, understand and respond positively by not rejecting each emotions and feelings when arises. Yoga works wonder for body and mind, Yoga not only build builds body strength and body. It is excellent tools to calm the mind and pacify emotions. In this workshop, we will be leading kids from aware their feeling to how we can approach each emotion with kindness and non-judgmental attitude through various yoga and mindfulness techniques.

Inside Out (腦筋急轉彎) 是近期皮克斯與迪士尼影一部非常激励的电影。所有的情绪都有存在的目的和价值。所以当有任何情绪的起伏,引导孩子如何察觉,了解和正面面对而不是排斥是非常的重要的。瑜伽是一个身和心的练习。瑜伽不止能让我们有一个强壮的体魄,瑜伽能安抚和稳定情绪。在这个工作坊我们将引导孩子如何通过瑜伽和正念的练习培养友善,慈悲及不批判的态度对待我们的心情起伏。

Yoga for the Special Child® LLC Basic 1&2 Program (2012). Shi is MBA holder from Nottingham University,UK, yet, with her passion in yoga, she left corporate job in 2011 and established happyfishyoga. Shi has been actively involved in teaching and advocating kid yoga in Malaysia since 2012, Apart kids yoga, Shi also engaged in yoga for children with special needs, kid mindfulness/quiet time exercise, yoga in school and family yoga.

Topic: Channeling Kids’ Energy Flow With Yoga

Is your child gifted, intuitive or has lots of extra energy? Let your kids join us for a fun session of exploring auras and energy, learning what it means to be grounded and centered, exploring meditation or “quiet time”, and much more! Your kids will discover “time-in” though the quiet time exercise and practice simple yoga movements, breathing and relaxation techniques.

你的孩子富有天赋,有直覺力和用不完的精力吗?让他们来参与我们这个有趣的探索氣場和能量的工作坊,学习什么是穩定和集中。孩子通过简单的瑜伽动作,呼吸和放松术孩子回归内心那个最宁静安全的舒适圈。

Bio : Susan has been practicing yoga since 2008. She is a 200 hour Ysynergy Yoga Alliance certified instructor and specializes in Kids Yoga, with qualifications from Radiant Child Yoga Program, Global Family Yoga ReConnected Kids and Yoga Kids TTC by R. Tamminga. She studied under many yoga gurus naming Jaque Ho from Ysynergy, Fezia from Radiant Child, Mira Binzen from Global Family Yoga and R.Tamminga from Taiwan.

Topic: Mandala of LOVE

What is Love? How to Love? Why Love is so important? We believe the kids will have their own unique interpretation, definition and experience on Love. We also believe that a child whose heart and mind been nourished with Love values will grow up in a more sentient and harmonious personalities that can affect our world in the future. In this session, we will let the kids express and expand the ideation of Love through art expression and Mother Earth dedication. Let your kids come and feel the energies of Love from their innocent hearts and express the Love through their little hands.

爱是什么?如何去爱?为什么爱那么的重要?我们深信孩子有他们对与爱的独特的见解和体验。我们也相信身心充满爱的孩子成长后会成为有知覺力和拥有和谐性格,也会带给世界未来影响。在这个环节,我们会让孩子们通过对于大地之母的爱和艺术来表达及扩展对于爱的构思能力。也让孩子通过他们纯真的心用他们小手来感受这份爱的力量

Bio : Sarana Khoo is a certified children’s art teacher with more than 8 years of teaching experience. Bringing up the expressive creativity and at the same time impart good values in kids are always her objectives in her passionate teaching. Apart from that, Sarana is also an Angelic Intuitive Artist by profession and an Advanced Pastel Nagomi Art Instructor trained and certified by Japan Pastel Hope Art Association.

3.15pm – 5.00pm / Workshop (5) by Everywhere is Love Art & Fitness Team(For Parent & Kid)
Topic : Family Yoga Storytelling Time 家庭故事时间

Kids love storytelling. Many studies reveal storytelling significantly improves children’s cognitive skills and reduces their socioemotional difficulties. Storytelling also helps promote language, literacy and brain development. The combination of yoga into storytelling not only enhance kid’s imagination but also the movement of yoga makes the storytelling more fun and dynamic. In this workshop, parent will be guided on how to perform yoga storytelling with children and also they has to partnered up during the workshop for a special yoga story project. Let the story flows with the yoga. Let the whole family feel the joy and happiness in the yoga storytelling time!

孩子都喜欢听故事。很多研究显示说故事能明显改善孩子的认知能力及减少社交障碍,同时也能提高孩子语言,讀寫能力和脑部发展。故事和瑜伽的结合不止加強孩子的想象力,瑜伽的律动也让故事的呈现更加有趣和活跃。在这个工作坊,父母将被引导如何和孩子开始一齐瑜伽故事时间,同时父母和孩子也要一齐合作一个特别瑜伽故事。让故事飘随着瑜伽的节奏动起来,也让整个家庭感受到瑜伽故事的喜悦和快乐

Bio : Everywhere is love art and fitness is the yoga studio who based in Johor Bahru. Topic : Spiritual Ecology – Yoga and Nature

The very purpose of yoga is to fall in love with love itself. Nature easily arouses awe, wonder, gratitude, surrender and devotion, all qualities of the spiritual seeker. Understanding nature has traditionally been the means for self-realization for many great yogis in the past. In fact the very roots of the yoga tradition lie in the shamanic practices aimed at connecting to the nature forces to develop wisdom and peace. In this workshop we will share with you our experiences and methods with helping children develop an intimate conversation with plants and animals, the sky and the soil and that way more deeply connect with their own inner nature.Its the Yoga of Nature.

瑜伽最主要的宗旨为恋上爱的本身。大自然很容易唤醒灵性追求者所寻找的所有特质,这包括敬畏,感恩,臣服和奉献。旧时很多伟大的瑜伽大师都以了解大自然来达到自我的觉醒。其实传统瑜伽的根基以萨满的练习连接大自然的力量来发展智慧和平静。在这个工作坊我们将和大家分享我们的经验和方法来帮助孩子和植物,动物,天空和大地建立内在亲密的对话。这也将让孩子跟能更深层的连接自己内在的本性。这也是瑜伽的本质。

Bio :Between 1999 and the present Mr.Tamminga has been a popular lecturer for a wide variety of organizations and government bodies on topics such as story telling, children’s yoga, special yoga and neo-humanist education.In the past six years he has traveled regularly to China, Malaysia and Singapore for teacher training and parent-children workshops. Every year he conducts several Kid yoga teacher training programs and now close to one thousand teachers participated this training. He also conduct hundreds of hours of workshops for teachers throughout Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Singapore. Currently promoting the Peace Mama Project – training of mothers to tell stories and practice Quiet Time Exercises in schools.

Topic : Yoga for kids – Musical Yoga

What will happen when yoga meets music? Yoga has been proved to help developing children in physical ability, confidence level and concentration. Breathing techniques in yoga can also help to soothe a child’s busy mind. Children naturally love music, Music enhances children’s emotional expression, social ability and creativity. The children will be able to experience the combination of these two beautiful elements in this workshop. Fun yoga postures, breathing techniques, games and quiet time activities will be introduced through various music and familiar children’s songs.

当瑜伽遇到音乐会是怎样的情景呢?瑜伽以被证明参帮助孩子建立健康的体魄,增强信心和专著力。瑜伽呼吸也可以平抚孩子忙碌的脑袋瓜。孩子都爱音乐。音乐不止能帮助孩子提高情绪的表达。社交能力和创造力。这个工作坊能让孩子同时体验瑜伽和音乐的完美结合特质。通过不同的音乐和熟悉的童谣练习有趣的瑜伽动作,呼吸,游戏和静心练习。

Bio : Kelly Fong is a Certified Kids Yoga Teacher trained under Rutger Tamminga who is based in Taiwan, specializing in teaching Yoga to children in pre-school and elementary school. Kelly believes in introducing yoga to kids in a fun and constructive manner. Her kids’ yoga classes are carefully designed and planned to bring laughter, music, craft and simple yet creative yoga poses to the young ones. She is a firm believer that yoga can help kids to connect to their bodies and emotions better.

Topic : Mindfulness for Teens – Managing Stress With Mindfulness

Teenagers are capable of great things. However, due to the competitive education system and the rapidly evolving world, teenagers are experiencing tremendous stress and countless negative influence in their daily life. Managing Stress With Mindfulness Workshop aims to equip these teenagers with the skills of Mindfulness in order to have a calmer mind by being connected to their body. With the vital skills of Mindfulness, we believe these teenagers will be able to excel in school and in life.

青少年是有能力能担当起大事。但是因为竞争的教育体制和急速发展的世界。青少年在日常生活中承担和体验了巨大的压力和负面影响。这个工作坊希望通过正念的练习让心智靜下來和更能连接自己的身体。我们相信拥有这些正念的技巧,青少年能在学业和生活中更有优越的表现。

Bio : Ken Tan works as a Legal Counsel in a construction company. He read law in University of Sheffield and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister. Beyond Ken’s legal work, he conducts various Mindfulness workshops for teenagers and facilitates guided meditations for Mindfulness retreat participants. He also enjoys sharing perspectives and connecting with youth through camps and programmes. Having benefited tremendously through mindfulness himself, Ken is passionate in spreading mindfulness in a flexible way that emphasises on daily life practice.

 Why “Love in Action”?

Yoga’s first and foremost objective is to bring out the positive qualities in all human beings through increasing health, mental balance and purification of the heart. This increased personal wellbeing also generates social benefits of more harmonious relations and smoother resolving of conflicts. Our festival slogan aims to reflect this ripple effect: that Yoga is Love in Action – not just for personal use, but has the potential to bring balance in the social sphere as well.

Our Objective

1. To create and increase public awareness of kids yoga and the associated benefits kids yoga brings to our society in the long run.
2. To educate the public to have a better understanding of yog and to clarify common misconceptions about kids yoga.
3. To explore the connection between yoga and family, school and society and how they can work hand in hand with each other.
4. To introduce and propound different methods of teaching kids yoga, mindfulness and quiet time exercises.
5. To gather and connect yoga teachers, educators, teachers and parents to discuss and share ideas on how to promote kid yogas in Malaysia and SE Asia.
6. To promote and increase local kids yoga teachers and studios exposure to the public.

About “Everywhere is love” (The Organizer)

The “Everywhere is love” Facebook page was founded and voluntarily run by numerous teachers who completed the 2012 Children Yoga Teacher Training Course conducted by Rutger Tamminga. The objective is to build a platform to connect both teachers and parents together. We also aim to introduce and propound kids yoga. Indeed, this page doesn’t belong to any organization or any religion, but this page belongs to everyone who loves children unconditionally.
